Unlocking Potential: Specialist Dyslexia Tutoring and Mentoring

We offer more than just teaching literacy skills. With over 14 years of experience, we deeply understand the daily challenges faced by students and their parents.

We love creating a positive learning environment by focusing on students’ unique strengths to help them overcome their challenges.

We follow the Alpha to Omega program, which gently guides students through spelling and reading, improving their literacy, creativity, vocabulary, communication, confidence, and ICT skills in a fun and encouraging way.

Our daughter really enjoys the sessions and has grown in confidence in a short space of time. She really goes the ‘extra mile’ to make sure that my daughter has the foundational support that is so important. Cannot recommend her highly enough!

Judith understands my daughter so well and through her own experiences of dyslexia is able to teach in a completely different way from school. Her lessons are taught using tools and art and different techniques every week. Giver her a try!

Does your child feel they are a fish being asked to climb a tree?

With appropriate support from another fish, they may be able to learn to “accept the things they cannot change (the tree being a fish) and find the courage to change the things they can.”

Together we can develop and improve their fish skills

  • Ability to become a fish with better skills to climb the tree
  • Capability to adapt their strengths to their environment
  • Resilience and a growth mindset – vital skills to flourish today and into the future
  • Self-esteem and confidence to help thrive as a fish
  • Literacy and study skills.

As a parent do you want to?

  • Know how to identify your child’s strengths and talents?
  • Encourage your child to better harness their strengths and talents to enable them to flourish at school and throughout life?
  • Help your child develop and improve their literacy and study skills by applying their strengths?
  • See your child grow into a resilient, adaptable and self-confident child despite the challenges they face as fish?

How would this happen?

As parents, your support is essential for your child’s success in literacy. You know your child best and we have the expertise and knowledge of unique multi-sensory techniques, which, when brought together, makes us a powerful team.

Sessions are guided over Zoom, using PowerPoint, harnessing many years of experience. This accelerates learning outcomes and boosts your child’s confidence, which is then transferred to other areas of school life. We look forward working with you.

Tutoring FAQs: Your guide to understanding and enrolling

What is Dyslexia?

Dyslexia is a neurodivergent condition that affects a child’s ability to read, write, and spell. It is not related to intelligence but involves difficulties processing written language.

How can I identify if my child has Dyslexia?

Look for signs such as difficulties with reading, spelling, writing, working memory and processing and organising written language.

Does my child need to be diagnosed with Dyslexia to work with you?

I work with:

  • Both diagnosed and undiagnosed neurodivergent children
  • Creative children who appear to be underachieving at school
  • Children who appear to be verbally able (appear to know all the answers), but this is not reflected in their schoolwork
  • Home-schooled children
  • School refusers

What are the benefits of tutoring for my child?

Tutoring for neurodivergent children is tailored to their specific needs. It uses proven structured strategies to enhance literacy skills in a multi-sensory way.

What qualifications and experience do you have?

  • OCR Level 5 Certificate in Teaching Learners with Specific Learning Differences
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology
  • Positive Psychology in Coaching
  • MISP – Teaching children (7-11-year-olds)  mindfulness
  • Relax Kids Coach Training
  • Specialist Coach Training for AD(H)D and Autistic Conditions

Judith has been an active supporter of the Thames Valley Dyslexia Centre since 2007, as a member, tutor and has presented many talks on how to create a positive learning environment on their parent’s course.

In the past, she has raised awareness of Dyspraxia (a related neurodivergent condition) in the media, most notably in the Daily Mail and Times Educational Supplement.

Alongside her professional qualifications, she also has personal experience of neurodiversity, providing me with valuable insight into the challenges that neurodivergent children and their families face daily.

How does tutoring work?

We offer tutoring sessions that are tailored to your child’s needs and strengths. We use fun, multisensory approaches and proven teaching methods to improve their literacy skills.

Sessions on Zoom are held weekly during term time for 40 minutes. The first 30 minutes are dedicated to guiding you and your child through the process, while the remaining 10 minutes provide support and guidance to you, the parent.

What age groups do you cater to?

We support children between 8 and 10 and their parents.

However, if your child falls outside this age range, we can still provide helpful guidance and resources. We can also offer ad-hoc guidance and signposting sessions for parents.

Can tutoring help with other school subjects?

Our tutoring program not only enhances your child’s literacy skills but also contributes to an improved school experience and boosts confidence as the skills learned are transferable.

However, if your child falls outside this age range, we can still provide helpful guidance and resources. We can also offer ad-hoc guidance and signposting sessions for parents.

The benefits of working with us remotely

  • More targeted and focussed
  • Multi sensory
  • Saves time and petrol costs
  • The child is in a familiar environment
  • As everything takes place on Powerpoint, they would have to use a laptop anyway
