FAQs

Dyslexia is a neurodivergent condition that affects a child’s ability to read, write, and spell. It is not related to intelligence but involves difficulties processing written language.

Look for signs such as difficulties with reading, spelling, writing, working memory and processing and organising written language.

I work with:

  • Both diagnosed and undiagnosed neurodivergent children
  • Creative children who appear to be underachieving at school
  • Children who appear to be verbally able (appear to know all the answers), but this is not reflected in their schoolwork
  • Home-schooled children
  • School refusers

Tutoring for neurodivergent children is tailored to their specific needs. It uses proven structured strategies to enhance literacy skills in a multi-sensory way.

Judith has been an active supporter of the Thames Valley Dyslexia Centre since 2007, as a member, tutor and has presented many talks on how to create a positive learning environment on their parent’s course.

In the past, she has raised awareness of Dyspraxia (a related neurodivergent condition) in the media, most notably in the Daily Mail and Times Educational Supplement.

Alongside her professional qualifications, she also has personal experience of neurodiversity, providing me with valuable insight into the challenges that neurodivergent children and their families face daily.

We offer tutoring sessions that are tailored to your child’s needs and strengths. We use fun, multisensory approaches and proven teaching methods to improve their literacy skills.

Sessions on Zoom are held weekly during term time for 40 minutes.  The first 30 minutes are dedicated to guiding you and your child through the process, while the remaining 10 minutes provide support and guidance to you, the parent.

We support children between 8 and 10 and their parents.

However, if your child falls outside this age range, we can still provide helpful guidance and resources.  We can also offer ad-hoc guidance and signposting sessions for parents.

Our tutoring program not only enhances your child’s literacy skills but also contributes to an improved school experience and boosts confidence as the skills learned are transferable.

  • More targeted and focussed
  • Multi sensory
  • Saves time and petrol costs
  • The child is in a familiar environment
  • As everything takes place on Powerpoint, they would have to use a laptop anyway
